About the museum

The video game museum is an associative place carried by The MO5 association. It is not a national museum but is supported by the City of Arcueil, public and private partners, and a large community of volunteers.

This place is the culmination of more than 25 years of work on preservation, mediation and documentation around digital and video heritage.

Mission & Vision

The aim of the video game museum is to discover, understand and preserve the history of the video game, from its origins to today. It is a place of transmission, culture and sharing, accessible to all: passionate, families, novices or simple curious.

Our founding values:

  • Heritage — preserve works and technologies
  • Transmission — share video culture
  • Innovation — value digital creation
  • Accessibility — ensuring access for all
  • Passion — to unite a committed community

The museum is not a national museum: it is a museum supported by Arcueil, public and private partners and many volunteers.

History of the video game museum

The video game museum project takes root as soon as 1996, when several enthusiasts begin a reflection on the preservation and transmission of the videoludic heritage. During this period, extensive informal collection, documentation and backup work is carried out.

In 2003These efforts are structured with the official creation of The MO5 association, designed to organize, preserve and value this digital and video heritage still largely unknown.

In 2023, the association intensifyes its actions and lays the foundations for a permanent place that will take shape in Arcueil: the video game museum.

This long collective work gives rise to a space of 1,200 m2 which opens its doors the 13 December 2025, offering a unique cultural experience dedicated to consoles, games, creators, arcade terminals and technological innovations.

About the association MO5
